Old Photos of The Real Alice in Wonderland Reveal How Illustrator’s Created the Disney Classic


Her name was Kathryn Beaumont, a young actress who was both the voice and the model for the character of Alice in Wonderland. She was just ten years old at the time. Walt Disney personally cast Kathryn himself after seeing her in a film, and thought she would make the perfect Alice. She would go on to provide the voice for Wendy in Peter Pan as well. The images reveal just how much work and meticulous detail went into creating each from of the animated classic. The Walt Disney Company officially named Kathryn Beaumont a “Disney Legend” in 1998. The images are an incredible record of the times, and a magical behind the scenes look at what it took to create that Disney Magic.
