Throwback 70s Street Style, A Look At Fashion’s Most Defining Decade

If there’s one thing that fashion history can teach us is that your grandparents probably had more style than you ever will in your entire life. Proof’s in the pudding – the 70s polyester, disco-printed, tassled, funky-town pudding. And now that the 70s are back (apparently…again…just like the last time it came back again in the late 90s) we thought we’d throw it back to the original disco-era hipsters to learn how it’s really done. Take special note of the windswept hair (likely straightened over an ironing board), voluminous fros, funky mustard colored platforms, and just general badassery. These were the people that actually created the trend that we now can’t seem to get enough of, and find a million ways to rehash over and over again. Remember the days when we actually created new, never been seen before style trends? Yeah, neither do we. Enjoy!

  1. I was a kid in the 1970s and I remember that the flares became completely crazy at one stage: they were so large on the bottom on jeans that, people would trip over. I even had a pair of flared shorts.

  2. This is so.. true there are no longer the days when we can say.. “oh this new trend’..everything has been circulated..at least 20X, and I always laugh at when I buy new items and my mother will say “Oh, I had the same thing when I was your age..”
+ I really enjoyed the vintage photos.
