There’s something about Kate Hulme (with Boss Models), her look and overall vibe is a perfect meeting point between a young Meryl Streep and Judy Delpy. We’re kinda smitten. “I was discovered in Topshop when I was 15 by my agent Lauren,” she explains. As it turned out, Kate was standing in front of a mirror in the store holding up a T-shirt with the words ‘I love my bones’ printed across the front. “Seems quite ironic!” she says laughing. What was your favorite photoshoot so far? “I once did one on the Yorkshire mores where I got to wear some really cool student designers clothes, they were amazing and so unique I also had feathers in my hair and I’ve always wanted to be Pocahontas so that was great too!” Below Kate is wearing a black and white printed Primark cardigan worn backwards.
How about your role models? “I like Alexa Chung because she’s so quick witted her humour inspires me, but above all friends and family It’s important to be friends with people who have traits you would want yourself.” Below left, Topshop denim dress. What’s your favorite designer of all time? “It’s a bit late now but I always loved the prints at the Proenza Schouler 2009 show, I remember seeing them when I’d first got into fashion and I never forgot, but I love dressing myself however, I think it’s important to be comfortable.” Below left, Kate wears Cow Vintage overalls with her own orange sweater. And the best advice she ever received? Kindness, naturally. “Treat others how you yourself would want to be treated,” she says, “And always follow your instincts.”
